Brownback Co-Sponsors Freedom from

Government Competition Act

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Sam Brownback co-sponsored the Freedom from Government Competition Act, legislation which would provide a process to review every commercial activity in the government.

“The Freedom from Government Competition Act would streamline the federal government work force and save the taxpayer billions of dollars,” said Brownback. “The legislation would save the American taxpayer up to $28 billion annually. Currently, we have a bloated government work force that is infringing on market forces and imposing on private enterprise. I will continue to fight to reduce the size and scope of the federal government, which is becoming more and more difficult lately, and this bill will go a long way to help streamline and reform government.”

Currently, 850,000 executive branch employees are in jobs that are commercial in nature. The Freedom from Government Competition Act says if private firms provide products or services that the government also provides, then the service should be subject to market competition to ensure better value for the taxpayer. The bill allows for in-sourcing after a public-private competitive sourcing analysis concludes that the provision of such goods or services by federal employees provides the best value to the taxpayer.

Is this the only factor in determining our next President? No, of course not. But you have to ask why he distorts and flat-out lies about his record. Who is he beholden to?

The following are excerpts from an article by Robert P. George, the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University (full article link is at the bottom).

"[Obama] supports legislation that would repeal the Hyde Amendment, which protects pro-life citizens from having to pay for abortions that are not necessary to save the life of the mother and are not the result of rape or incest."

"He has promised that 'the first thing I'd do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act' (known as FOCA). This proposed legislation would create a federally guaranteed 'fundamental right' to abortion through all nine months of pregnancy."

"FOCA would abolish virtually every existing state and federal limitation on abortion, including parental consent and notification laws for minors, state and federal funding restrictions on abortion, and conscience protections for pro-life citizens working in the health-care industry-protections against being forced to participate in the practice of abortion or else lose their jobs."

"Obama, unlike even many 'pro-choice' legislators, opposed the ban on partial-birth abortions when he served in the Illinois legislature and condemned the Supreme Court decision that upheld legislation banning this heinous practice."

"[He] has not endorsed or offered support for the Pregnant Women Support Act, the signature bill of Democrats for Life, meant to reduce abortions by providing assistance for women facing crisis pregnancies."

"As an Illinois state senator Obama opposed legislation to protect children who are born alive, either as a result of an abortionist's unsuccessful effort to kill them in the womb, or by the deliberate delivery of the baby prior to viability...The federal version of the bill passed unanimously in the United States Senate, winning the support of such ardent advocates of legal abortion as John Kerry and Barbara Boxer. But Barack Obama opposed it and worked to defeat it. For him, a child marked for abortion gets no protection-even ordinary medical or comfort care-even if she is born alive and entirely separated from her mother. So Obama has favored protecting what is literally a form of infanticide." (His lies during the debate included that it was unecessary due to other state laws and it didn't have mother's health exceptions. Do you really think the federal version would have passed _unanimously_ without the standard provisions demanded by those in the 'pro-choice' camp? The reason the bill was pushed in Illinois was due to testimony from a nurse who was not allowed to provide assistance to babies surviving abortions.)

"He has co-sponsored a bill...that would authorize the large-scale industrial production of human embryos for use in biomedical research in which they would be killed. In fact, the bill Obama co-sponsored would effectively require the killing of human beings in the embryonic stage..."

"When a bill was introduced in the United States Senate to put a modest amount of federal money into research to develop [methods to produce stem-cells without using embryos] , Barack Obama was one of the few senators who opposed it. From any rational vantage point, this is unconscionable."

"In an interview in Glamour magazine, he made it clear that he would apply a litmus test for Supreme Court nominations: jurists who do not support Roe will not be considered for appointment." (another lie from the debate)

"Barack Obama's America is one in which being human just isn't enough to warrant care and protection. It is an America where the unborn may legitimately be killed without legal restriction, even by the grisly practice of partial-birth abortion. It is an America where a baby who survives abortion is not even entitled to comfort care as she dies on a stainless steel table or in a soiled linen bin. It is a nation in which some members of the human family are regarded as inferior and others superior in fundamental dignity and rights. In Obama's America, public policy would make a mockery of the great constitutional principle of the equal protection of the law."

We have heard a litany of programs, approaches, and philosophies during these debates and in the campaigns. However, can we have a quick reality check? The President doesn't construct one bill, nor does he or she increase or decrease taxes. He can propose whatever he wants, but the debates and deals are cut in the legislature (doesn't anyone remember Bill Clinton running a campaign on 'middle class tax cuts' in '92 only to abandon it after 6 weeks in office? "It was just too hard.")

The President will appoint judges (among other things). For whatever reason, Obama is so far to the left that he will put judges in place that find un-legislated and unconstitutional reasons to accelerate the destruction of the family. Euthanasia, forms of infanticide, harvesting organs from human clones, gay so-called marriage -- are all on this heinous agenda.

There are plenty of points to debate related to economics, the military, and other issues. But what have we become as a nation if all of the above doesn't matter? God help us; we are destroying our future. If this man becomes President, we will get more of the destruction we deserve.

The Decline of Latte Liberal Market Highlights McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Drinkers

COLUMBUS, OH – (MARKET WIRE) – 8/21/08 – What do Starbucks and Barack Obama have in common? They are both declining in popularity according to the latest BIGresearch (http://www.bigresearch.com) monthly Consumer Intentions and Actions (CIA) Survey of over 8,500 participants. Since February 2008, the percentage of people who say they go to Starbucks most often for coffee has declined 14% from 11.2% to 9.6%. Meanwhile, Obama has fallen behind McCain as 38% of the consumers said they would vote for McCain v. 37.4% for Obama. In July, Obama led McCain 37.8% to 36.8%.

During the primaries, the “latte liberals” were often associated with Obama and indeed Starbucks drinkers prefer Obama over McCain (44% v. 37.8%). People who get their cup of joe from McDonald’s prefer McCain (45.4%) over Obama (29.2%). However, when it comes to undecided voters, Dunkin’ Donuts has the highest percentage of customers still on the fence (22%). It could be that Dunkin’ Donuts may have an impact on this election.
