GS1 claims cameraphone barcode scanning is a reality for consumers
Monday, December 7, 2009 at 02:00AM Specifically through Extended Packaging standards development efforts, GS1 claims that consumers see this as a reality and it is important for the industry to ensure that proper standards are in place.
A specific quote from the press release:
"Extended Packaging is a reality for consumers. It’s our job to make sure the services we offer reach the widest audience. That’s only possible with the right standards in place," commented Vanderlei Roque dos Santos (Nestlé), co-chair of the GS1 MobileCom group.
Several pilots are underway in different countries, involving some of the world's largest brands and retailers. Full press release is attached.
